Happy Independence Day!
Every week we have more and more appointments! We had a few appointments fall through this week, but we still had more appointments than ever. We have new people to see in Cedar Creek and Del Valle and we now have a temple appointment for the Orellanos (Yay!!)
Last Saturday I taught a small church group the basics of crochet. There were a couple of washcloths made as well as several hair scrunchies. I was a little overwhelmed trying to teach it in Spanish, but Elder Bell helped me by making a Powerpoint presentation in Spanish. Helped a lot. Also helped that most of the group understood English.
One of our regular appointments asked me (begged, really) to please cut her hair! So Sherry got a haircut this week! We love Sherry!
The last puzzle we put together, Texas Bluebonnets, took us about 6 weeks! We just finished this quilt puzzle, and it only took us 3 weeks. 😃 Just a bit easier. Really fun. We plan on making both again. But on the Bluebonnet puzzle, we "cheated" for next time. We turned it over and drew vertical lines, one black and one blue) on each row, so we will be able to tell what direction each piece faces.
We have swallows nesting on our back porch. We have two nests, but one of the nests had FIVE babies! One of the babies was smaller and as of yesterday he is the only one left in the nest. The others grew up and flew away!
We've still been spending lots of time in the car, so therefore I have had some time to knit! This is the outcome of the last few weeks.
The Sudweeks have arrived! They are a senior missionary couple from the St. George Utah area who are assigned to the Lockhart branch. They are moving into our apartment when we move out. They are staying in-between an Airbnb and a room in a private house until our apartment becomes available. The mission found a place for us to stay for these few weeks, but they hadn't looked at it. We went and looked at it, realized it was going to be quite a change (very tiny), so we called up the mission office and just said when they brought furniture to not bring as much: living room furniture would not fit. They decided that wasn't a good thing, so now the Sudweeks have the opportunity to be a bit homeless for another month. We are feeling a bit of survivor guilt.
Speaking of another month, it is soooooo weird to think we only have a month left! We are already missing it. We love it here, love the people, worry about our little branch and the branch president.... I could so easily live here. But I won't. But I could. We really miss Hawaii.... I could live there, too... but I won't, but I could! No, we have a place, and we are looking forward to spending time with family again. But this won't be our last mission! Looking forward to going again!!
Father's Day and John's birthday arrived! He was a little bit spoiled, and even the ward had a "birthday card" for him at church!
We still find fun things while out on our walks. Here's a few things from the last couple of weeks. Hope everyone has a wonderful week!
