Friends at church!

The husband of one of our members is not a member of the church.  They live a long ways from the church and the family has not been participating fully.  They live closer to us, so we have been visiting with them.  We have met with and taught the husband and children a couple of times now.  SUPER family!  We invited them to church last week and they came!  We were super happy to see them.  The husband said he enjoyed it.  Hopefully they will continue to come. :-)

Our sister that had surgery last week is now back at home.  The Elders Quorum got organized and a floor was repaired and a ramp built to accommodate a wheelchair.  This family lives in Bastrop and although they speak Spanish they also speak English well.  The Bastrop ward has adopted them, and she has unofficial ministering sisters.  We are thinking that they will do well to transfer to that ward, since a 15 minute drive is much more likely than a 1 hour drive.  We are going to introduce the family (the wife is the only member) to the Bastrop Elders this week.

On Saturday we took our first ever trip to the Bishop's Storehouse in Round Rock, a little over an hour away, just 10 minutes further than the mission home.  We picked up 2 orders then delivered them.  It was kind of fun to do something new! Then on Monday, being the first Monday of the month, we did our Sam's Club trip to San Marcos.  San Marcos is actually closer than Gonzales, but because we rarely go there it seems a long ways away!   With our driving to and from Gonzales, Dale, Cedar Creek, Bastrop, Red Rock, Round Rock and San Marcos, we have really put a lot of miles on the car.  One day we put 160 miles on it!

The bluebonnets are disappearing fast, and even the firewheels are starting to go away, and now we see fields and fields of corn! It is getting warmer, with the highs in the mid to high 80s, and sometimes even going to 90+.  Everyone says we haven't seen anything yet.  It supposedly get really hot.  Wow, can't wait until August!  Ha ha!

I am looking forward to June and July and the ripening of the Luling watermelons, though!  They are supposed to be fantastic!

Almost every day we go for a walk.  A few weeks back we decided to mark on a map every street we've walked on, and now when we go for our walks we look to see if there is someplace new we can walk to. I have no doubt we'll be able to cover every street in Lockhart before our time is up.

The green lines are where we have walked so far.

We found this cemetery today on our walk.

Poppies are happy flowers!

The neighborhood cat of one of our members.  He's getting to know me.

The mission is pushing getting people to sacrament meeting.  We only had the one family last week as visitors.  Hoping for more this week. Hoping also to get some more of our members that live far to make the trip in.

For all the advertisement that went into letting people in Lockhart know about our English classes, not one person has shown up yet.  We did have some members come and get help with family history, though, which made me very happy!  We don't know how much longer we are going to keep going to the non-attended English classes....  The stake had prioritized Family History, so we'll keep working strong on that, and hopefully more people will come to that.

We have been in Texas over 2 months now. We only have 4 months left to accomplish LOTS of good things! This is why we are so busy! And we are having a fantastic time. ❤
