English, English and more English!

We had a very successful week setting up locations and dates for teaching English Connect this week!  The Lockhart libary was very excited, and showed us several rooms we could choose from to have our weekly classes.  Super great.  They wanted to wait for a few weeks so there would be time to "advertise."  So we will be starting at the library on April 18th.  Super cool.  And it's not only English, but also Family History Consultation.  Each day we teach English for one hour we are also going to be available to help others with Family History for one hour.

Once we start at the library, our schedule will be:

Monday 5-7 at the Lockhart library.

Tuesday 6-8 at the Lockhart church.

Thursday 6-8 at the Gonzales church.

Fridays...... we think...... we are taking over a Zoom English Connect.

Right now we are doing Wednesday at the Gonzales church, and since we are starting over again for the Thursday classes, we may be keeping the Wednesday one as well.  Some have expressed interest in the Family History, but so far only one person has come.... as we got to help her find her father's records as well as find her grandparents and aunts and uncles!  She knew very little, as her dad died when she was young.  I was super thrilled with the finds we made!

More and more of the trees have tiny mint green leaves.  Before we know it everything will be green.  We are enjoying the more warmer weather, and are assuming that we've put away our coats for the season.  We'll see.  Today (March 21) we are supposed to get real bad weather this afternoon, and we even canceled an appointment, as it was right when the worst of the weather is supposed to hit, and the roads getting there could very well be flooded.  President Fox told everyone to be careful and stay safe.  So we are.  I'm going to miss visiting this couple, though.  Super sweet, they've been members about a year, and are preparing now to go to the temple. 💛

We had lots of extra time in between appointements in Gonzales this last week, so we went exploring.  We found out the history of the motto "Come and Take It",  https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/gonzales-come-and-take-it-cannon

We toured the museum and saw the original "Come and Take It" cannon.... it's a tiny thing!  We also went to a log cabin built by one of the settlers.  Walked a lot of Gonzales.  It was a lovely walk!  There are some houses there that were built between 1890 and 1910 that are just huge!  Lovely architecture!  Gonzales has a wide variety of houses, from the 800 sq. ft. (or half that size out in the countryside) house to the large mansions.

We have loved how friendly everyone is.  Most of the time, even the drivers are very courteous.  We stop and talk to people during our walks, and people wave or greet us all the time.  Super friendly.  We love it!

We REALLY need someone to take over when we leave!  The mission president said he only gets a portion of the couple missionaries he requests.  Please sign up for a mission, and request the Austin Texas mission, (Spanish speaking preferable)!   We'd love to train you before we head back home, and you could take over our apartment!!😊

Being a missionary is great!  Having a great companion is great, too!

 More evidence of spring.
