Arrival!
We made it to Lockhart! We drove 5 1/2 to 6 hours each day, starting in San Dimas, California on Tuesday Feb. 22, and made it to Lockhart, Texas on Friday, February 25. The Lockhart Elders live in the same apartment complex and helped us unpack the car. We were super grateful for the help, as we not only had a very full car, but it was rainy, windy and COLD! So happy to have extra hands!
We spent the afternoon unpacking, then went shopping! There were a few household items we still needed to purchase and of course we needed food. It was a very long afternoon! We didn't eat dinner until about 10:00 p.m., but it was delicious!
Saturday we met President Pomeroy, the Stake President of the Kyle Stake. That was great. Then we went shopping again for all the things we forgot on our first Walmart trip. :-) We drove to Gonzales for the first time in the evening to meet with one pair of sister missionaries, and we also got to talk with the 1st counselor in the branch presidency.
Sunday- our first day in the Gonzales branch! It was great! We got to talk with several members today, as well as the branch president, the 2nd counselor, and the other set of sister missionaries.
Gonzales is about a 35 minute drive. It's not a bad drive, but nicer in the daylight! Driving it the first time in the dark and with light rain was a bit tense, but doing it in daylight and no rain was a breeze.
Happy to be here!!
Next week maybe we'll remember to take photos of Gonzales!
a step up from your first mission in Chile!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your safe arrival. Now the adventures begin!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your missionary blog with us. We look forward to following your adventures. The bright orange door reminds me of my own adventures at Oregon State... :).
ReplyDeleteHooray! It looks like a great place. I look forward to hearing about your adventures. I LOVE the orange door. Orange is my favorite--it's happy and a little sassy. :)
