Greetings to all on Memorial Day!

Greetings to you on Memorial Day! Hubby and I spent the morning perusing the cemetery and talking to people there. We expected it to be crowded. Not so. The people we did find were really fun to talk to and we learned a little about each of their families. We told them we were available to help find ancestors (through FamilySearch.org and Ancestry.com) and gave each a card with our hours at the library and the church.

We "decorated" our car. No one parked or walked by it, and no one took cards from there. We saw a total of 8 families/persons in the cemetery, and we talked to all but 2 of them. They were too fast: pull up, put flowers on grave, stay for a minute, then go. We couldn't get to them. All the others were very pleasant. We talked to a widower for probably 10 minutes, found out all about his wife and his mom and step-dad whose graves he was visiting. One couple we talked to said he was on FamilySearch already, but was very interested in learning more! We'll just have to see who shows up in the next few weeks to the library and the church!

Family History is a LOT of what I've been doing. There are several families that I am helping them with their tree, and it's been fun, but it does take time! Plus, we have 3 people (the Rios couple and David) who are going to the temple this next Saturday. Everyone in the branch that can go are going! I have to hem the dress and the two pairs of pants though by Saturday! AND we have 11 appointments this week. Really hope I can get the hemming done tomorrow. Whew!

During car rides (which is between 300 and 400 miles a week) I knit!  Here are some of the things I've made these last 2 weeks.








The weather is interesting. It seems a bit hot for spring, with it getting up to the high 90s. The car registered 100 degrees once last week while we were out in the rural parts. Thankfully, in the mornings during our walk, it has been about 70 degrees when we start out. With the almost always present breeze as it gets warmer we are still comfortable. Hot, yes, but not suffering!

The bluebonnets and firewheels are gone, the corn is growing higher in the fields, but there are still beautiful flowers around. Many in people's gardens that we can enjoy on our walks!

    Sounds like a good day overall still, even if there weren't as many people as you expected.

    At the very least, you found some gorgeous, gorgeous flowers.

March passed so quickly!

 We have been busy.... am I saying this too much?  Maybe, but every week we seem to be a little more busy!  For instance, today we had a meeting in Lockhart at 10:00, (we walked the 1 1/2 miles), then had an appointment in Gonzales at 2:00 (40 minute drive), then after that we went to the Luling library (20 minute drive) to see their genealogical society section.  Then we went from there to Cedar Creek (35 minute drive), then back to Lockhart (35 minutes) to go to the chapel there for Family History instruction.  During the drives we reviewed lessons, and we were able to eat breakfast and lunch at home.  About 2 hours 10 minutes in the car in one day.  Whew!  What a day! (But not too unusual.)  It's nice now to relax for a little while.  Tomorrow we will drive to the other side of Austin for Zone Conference, then in the evening we will be back in Gonzales for a dinner appointment and our English class. English, English and more English!

       We had a very successful week setting up locations and dates for teaching English Connect this week!  The Lockhart libary was very excited, and showed us several rooms we could choose from to have our weekly classes.  Super great.  They wanted to wait for a few weeks so there would be time to "advertise."  So we will be starting at the library on April 18th.  Super cool.  And it's not only English, but also Family History Consultation.  Each day we teach English for one hour we are also going to be available to help others with Family History for one hour. Once we start at the library, our schedule will be: Monday 5-7 at the Lockhart library. Tuesday 6-8 at the Lockhart church. Thursday 6-8 at the Gonzales church. Fridays...... we think...... we are taking over a Zoom English Connect.     Right now we are doing Wednesday at the Gonzales church, and since we are starting over again for the Thursday classes, we may be...

Around town, meeting members and friends

 We've been a bit busier this last week.  We had appointments almost every night.  One of the assignments the sister missionaries had was to teach English classes.  It takes so much time to prepare, and they were very excited to hand over that assignment to us!  We were given 3 laptops from the stake to start Family History Connect.  We are going to start both of these this week! We will also be doing Family History Connect (just one on one helping others with their family history) in the Lockhart building once a week, starting next week.  We may be starting English classes here in Lockhart, too.  We are pretty excited to get this going! We have been taking daily walks around town, trying to go in different directions, unless we need to go shopping, so we have found some fun places.  Many more to find!  Lockhart is full of old LARGE houses, probably old plantation houses, and some are kept up super nice.  I love them!  We found...
